SHILLONG, July 28: The much-awaited Crowborough Hotel will be inaugurated in August as 99 per cent work on the same is completed.
This was informed by Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) Chairman Saleng Sangma on Thursday.
Informing that finishing touches are being given to the hotel, Sangma said, “The work is almost finished and in the month of August we will be opening (the hotel).”
He also informed that the hotel is equipped with a huge underground parking space.
It may be mentioned that the hotel, which will employ around 150 people in various capacities, will consist of several economy rooms, standard rooms, deluxe rooms, suites, banquet hall and a coffee shop.
The state government had earlier asked the contractor engaged in constructing the Crowborough Hotel to inaugurate the project before August 15.
Close to 35 years after it was first conceptualised, the Crowborough Hotel is finally on the verge of completion.
Proposed in 1987, the proposed five-star hotel has been in the news for over three decades, suffering innumerable delays along the way.
