SHILLONG, Aug 6: Since the introduction of e-challan, a digital challan solution, in Shillong, which is marred by traffic snarls, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has realised almost Rs 2 crore from traffic violation cases through e-challan alone.
The platform of e-Challan (A Digital Challan Solution) was implemented in Shillong in March last year.
According to the STP, it has detected a total of 25,318 traffic violations since the launch of the platform realising an amount of Rs 1,90,36,900 through e-Challan alone.
Launched by the state government, e-Challan is a sophisticated software application comprising Android-based mobile app and web interface, developed for the purpose of providing a comprehensive solution for Transport enforcement officers and Traffic policemen.
This app-cum application is integrated with Vahan and Sarathi applications and provides a number of user-friendly features while covering all major functionalities of Traffic Enforcement System.
As recent as Friday, the STP conducted checking in several parts of the city and compounded several violators using the e-challan.
Meanwhile, a day’s training programme on e-Challan (Digital Challan Solution) was conducted in Police Headquarter for all seven districts of Eastern Range in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Meghalaya.
“With the completion of this training session, now e-Challan is implemented in the entire state of Meghalaya. This platform also emphasises on road safety measures and other traffic-related issues,” the STP said.
