Traffic slows in Delhi as farmers converge for mahapanchayat

New Delhi, Aug 22:  Due to the mahapanchayat called by the farmers at Jantar Mantar on Monday, the entire Delhi-NCR was witnessing traffic snarls. The vehicular movement at the border was very slow due to heavy barricading by the police.

Various entry points of the national capital, including Ghazipur, Chilla, Tikri, Singhu and Faridabad were witnessing traffic jams.

Farmers have given a call to assemble at the Jantar Mantar over the issue of unemployment.

The Delhi Police have beefed up the security at all the border points. The police has also made elaborate arrangements to avoid all kinds of untoward incidents.

At borders vehicles were being checked thoroughly.

The Delhi Police had earlier said the gathering of the farmers could cause traffic problems and untoward incidents across the national capital and hence made security arrangements. (IANS)
