SHILLONG, Aug 28: The People’s Democratic Front (PDF) has formally announced that the party’s general secretary, Auspicious Lyngdoh Mawphlang, will be the face of PDF from Mawphlang constituency in 2023 assembly polls.
The announcement was made by party president Gavin Miguel Mylliem during a public meeting to formally induct members of the PDF Zonal Committee Mawphlang Constituency in Mawphlang on Saturday.
It may be recalled that Mawphlang had unsuccessfully contested the election to the KHADC from Mawphlang-Diengiei constituency in 2019.
The PDF chief has urged party workers to work hard to ensure victory for Auspicious.
Meanwhile, the PDF general secretary said that he is happy with the party’s decision to field him from Mawphlang for the polls.
He said that the state needs young and dynamic leaders who are committed to bring a change in the political spectrum of the state. “The present breed of leaders has failed to give priority to solve the real problems faced by the people,” he said.
