SHILLONG, Aug 28: Police have arrested two suppliers in connection with a case relates to supply of fake experience certificates while procuring a tender for supply of dry ration floated by the Police headquarters.
The two businessmen – Pankaj Gupta of Yash Enterprise and GS Khyriem of GS Khyriem Enterprise – were arrested in connection with the CBPS case no 3(8)22 registered under sections 420/468/471/34 of the Indian Penal Code.
It is to be noted that some other suppliers objected to the documents provided by these two firms yet the supply order was given to them to supply dry ration to two Meghalaya Police Battalions.
Ironically, the then Assistant Inspector-General of Police (A) GK Iangrai was the one who managed all the paperwork in these tenders.
The complaint was taken only on record by the new administration and on inquiry from GTC it was found that the experience certificates were fake. Whether it happened with active collusion of then AIG (A) or not is now a matter of investigation, a source said.
