SHILLONG, Aug 30: The state government is expected to temporarily take over the GVK 108 ambulance services in the state from next week and manage it until a new partner is finalised.
The state has been without emergency ambulance services since July 17 after GVK EMRI wrapped up its operations in Meghalaya and emergency services are being handled by ambulances run by clubs, NGOs and civil society groups.
A government official said on Tuesday that interviews for managerial level posts were held last week and the tender notice to appoint a new agency to run the services will be issued shortly.
The state government had issued the closure notice to the firm on August 3 around 300 employees were sacked. 17 office employees were given the option of transfer to Assam and West Bengal of which ten accepted the offer.
