SHILLONG, Sep 3: In a bid to give a fillip to the entrepreneurial careers of women from the Northeast, a 40-hour weekend online certificate course kick-started on Saturday for the aspiring womenfolk.
According to a statement, the course, which will end on October 16, is being provided by the Centre for Development of the North Eastern Region (CeDNER), IIM Shillong, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW).
Reacting to the collaboration, IIM Shillong Director Dr DP Goyal said, “Collaboration between IIM Shillong and the National Commission for Women not only aims to accelerate efforts to promote women entrepreneurship but also build confidence among the women entrepreneurs from both urban and rural areas. NCW will be sponsoring the course, which will be delivered by IIM Shillong faculty to all selected participants. The course is designed to assist aspiring female entrepreneurs in launching their own businesses while learning from the eminent faculty at IIM Shillong. While being mentored, participants will work on developing a business plan and will present their entrepreneurship dynamics to the mentors.”
“Our vision is to organise this one-of-a-kind opportunity for young entrepreneurs, businessmen and women, business executives, and officers from the region to take advantage of training in skill development at various stages of their business and entrepreneurial activity,” he added.
It may be mentioned that the certification programme for women will offer personal and professional development opportunities with a focus on management practices, growth opportunities, development of effective leadership skills and support through formal mentoring on the business idea and peer networking.
