NONGPOH, Sep 3: Jirang MLA Sosthenes Sohtun has sought clarification from the president of Western Ri Bhoi Dorbar Najim Kharmalki for allegedly disseminating misleading information about him during a programme organised by the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) on August 30.
It is pertinent to note that the Kharmalki, during programme, had allegedly accused Sohtun of being involved in collecting land documents discreetly from various traditional heads of Jirang constituency and submitting them to the state government.
Sohtun, while rejecting the allegations, said he never asked any traditional head to submit any kind of land document to him for border settlement between Meghalaya and Assam.
The MLA also maintained that it is the traditional heads who submitted their land documents to the state’s Revenue department through the Regional Committee appointed by Meghalaya government.
