Assam tourists allegedly looted in WKH, 3 held

SHILLONG, Sep 5: Police on Monday arrested three persons for allegedly looting some tourists from Assam on the Nongstoin-Tura Highway.
West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Herbert G Lyngdoh said information was received that some tourists from Assam, who had come to Nongstoin for sight-seeing on Sunday, were allegedly robbed by local youths somewhere along the Nongstoin-Tura Highway.
A video clip, wherein one of the culprits is seen playing a guitar, was shared with police via WhatsApp which led them to the culprit along with his two accomplices.
The police official said the victims have lodged an FIR at Boko police station in Assam and the same will be forwarded to Nongstoin police who have jurisdiction over the case.
The apprehended persons have been kept at the PS lock-up for safe custody for the night and further legal formalities will follow after receipt of the FIR, the official added.
