SHILLONG, Sep 12: Meghalaya Trinamool Congress president Charles Pyngrope on Monday demanded a thorough probe into Saturday’s jailbreak incident in Jowai where five UTPs and a homicide convict escaped and the killing of four of them by a mob.
Speaking to media persons here, Pyngrope said the police were caught napping and the jailbreak should not have happened.
Stating that nobody can take the law into their hands, no matter what, Pyngrope said an inquiry should be done into how the escapees managed to get hold of a sharp weapon to attack the prison staff.
