SHILLONG, Sep 26: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla on Monday unveiled the portraits of the unsung heroes of Meghalaya here.
According to a statement, the programme was attended by the teaching and non-teaching staff, and the students of the university.
While referring to the bravehearts of Meghalaya, the VC said that NEHU has taken the initiative to glorify their sacrifices.
“The Northeastern states have contributed a lot for the freedom of this great nation and the rest of India and the world needs to know about it. When we are in the other parts of the country, people rarely speak about the freedom fighters from the Northeastern region, let alone the state of Meghalaya. Glorification of the contribution of the freedom fighters from this part of the country is necessary and it is about time that we inculcate the feeling of patriotism among the youths of this nation and help them in spreading the knowledge and information of the freedom fighters from this state,” he said.
