SHILLONG, Oct 6: Soil and Water Conservation Minister Hamletson Dohling has appealed to the residents of Lummawbah to work in tandem with the government for the better and faster reach of development in the village.
Dohling, who on Tuesday virtually launched various projects under Soil and Water Conservation department at Lummawbah, Upper Shillong, lauded the village’s executive committee for following up on various schemes in Lummawbah.
He also said that as a resident of the village, it is his responsibility to provide best amenities for the development of the village as a whole.
He also expressed hope that the Lummawbah Government Lower Primary School, which has remained in a dilapidated condition for years, will play an important role in catering to the educational needs of the children once it is refurbished.
Informing that 75 per cent of the renovation work is complete, Dohling expressed hope that the school will be fully functional by the next academic session.
He also inaugurated various projects relating to the accessibility of water sources in Lummawbah.
Informing that more than 500 households in the village will benefit from the Jal Jeevan Mission, he asked the public to cooperate and work with the government so that development reaches faster in the village.
