SHILLONG, Oct 18: BJP leader AL Hek on Tuesday said there has been no intimation or communication from the party’s central leadership on the issue of withdrawal of support to the National People’s Party-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government.
“Nobody has informed (us) about any such decision. Nothing has been intimated to us and I don’t know anything about it,” Hek told reporters, reacting to unconfirmed reports that the BJP’s central leadership has decided to pull out of the MDA.
“We leave it to the wisdom of the central leaders. We do not know what decision will be taken,” he added.
He said the NPP’s criticism of the BJP for not walking the talk is the former’s take and he has nothing to say about it.
The BJP’s threat to pull out of the government appears to have been more smoke than fire. The party has made no move to sever ties with its coalition partners, including the United Democratic Party.
BJP Meghalaya in-charge M Chuba Ao had on September 3 said the party was considering pulling out of the government and gathering evidence of illegal activities and corruption to set the Enforcement Directorate or the Central Bureau of Investigation after the MDA.
While it is absolutely clear that Meghalaya BJP’s relations with NPP has acerbated, the saffron party’s central leadership continues to remain silent prompting the Conrad-led party to ignore the withdrawal threat.
The CM has already termed the BJP leaders’ threat as an “individual decision” while NPP state president WR Kharlukhi minced no word in calling the pull-out threat a “farce”.

No party can form next govt without BJP: Mawrie
Some parties are making statements that they will comfortably secure majority in next year’s Assembly elections but BJP state president Ernest Mawrie said no party will be able to form the government without the saffron party’s support.
Stating that the other parties are building castles in the air, Mawrie said: “These parties believe the voters are ignorant and can be manipulated. They are completely unaware of the mood of the voters.”
“The people of Meghalaya have experienced the positive difference that BJP can create through various central schemes which touched their lives. This time around, the people are determined to elect a BJP-led, development-oriented and corruption-free government that will work only for the people and the state,” he added.
