SHILLONG, Oct 19: Minister in charge of Agriculture and Sports and Youth Affair, Banteidor Lyngdoh on Wednesday said that he can certify there are no controversies in the two departments under him.
“I am happy that I have tried my best to see that the people benefits from the two departments which I am holding,” Lyngdoh, who is also the PDF working president, told reporters
The other representative of the PDF in the Conrad Sangma-led Cabinet is Hamletson Dohling, who now holds Community and Rural Development and Information and Technology portfolios.
In view of polls, the PDF working president said the people know what transpired in the last four-and-half years and will give their verdict accordingly.
Banteidor said that the question on the corruption charges against the present government should be asked from the party leading the government, which is the NPP.
According to him, the PDF has continued its support to the MDA government for the full term for the sake of stability and to ensure that there is no disruption in implementation of various developmental programmes.
Asked if the people will reject smaller parties like the PDF as claimed by the United Democratic Party (UDP), Lyngdoh said it may be also be that people would reject bigger parties since they have failed to meet the expectations of the people in the past several years.
“I am confident that we will be winning more seats this time. We will know the outcome; whom the people will repose its faith after next year’s elections,” the PDF working president said.
Replying to question if they will suffer a setback in the upcoming elections with two of its sitting MLAs deciding not to contest from the party, he replied in the negative while reasoning that they already have candidates preparing to contest against the two sitting MLAs.
It may be noted that Dohling, who represents Mylliem constituency, and Jason Mawlong, who represents Umsning constituency, are likely to contest from the NPP.
