SHILLONG, Oct 22: An ILP check gate set up by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) along the Meghalaya-Assam border in East Jaintia Hills was dismantled on Saturday by the police.
Justifying setting up of the ILP check gate, the KSU said it was necessary not only to check the entry of illegal immigrants but also to keep a tab on illegal activities.
KSU president Lambokstar Marngar said members of the Union have, in the last few months, detected numerous illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
Terming the situation as alarming, Marngar warned that the union will take law and order into their hands if the government fails to address the issue.
