Liquor raid
In keeping with its tirade against against illicit liquor, illegal sale of IMFL, beer, wine, etc., the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills, conducted raids in restaurants/stalls in the city and its outskirts during the month of September. The Excise staff, during the raids, detected 19 cases with a seizure of 95.70 litres of illegally distilled liquor and 37.20 litres of IMFL. In this connection, 16 persons have been arrested under the Excise Act.

Inaugural prog
The Department of Commerce of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, organized an inaugural programme on Wednesday to mark the year-long celebration of their platinum jubilee year 2022-23. The function was attended by many past and president students as well as well-wishers of the department. A panel discussion on the topic “India becoming the third largest economy by 2023: Issue and challenges” was also conducted.
