SHILLONG, Nov 2: A day after United Democratic Party (UDP) president Metbah Lyngdoh informed that the party will discuss Bindo Mathew Lanong’s money-for-ticket claim, the latter has denied making bribery allegations or suspecting foul play in the UDP’s decision to award the ticket to sitting independent Nongkrem MLA Lambor Malngiang.
Clarifying the matter, Lanong said he had only mentioned about Malngiang’s monetary contributions to the UDP as claimed by the latter’s close supporters.
Meanwhile, sources have informed that even MLAs and MDCs of UDP had made some contributions to the party fund, especially towards the newly constructed party office.
It may be mentioned that UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh had earlier termed the allegations levelled by Lanong that Malngiang might have paid money to get the party ticket as ridiculous.
Metbah, on the other hand, had said the party would take up Lanong’s claim for discussion.
“We will discuss and find out why such things are being said,” Mawthoh had said.
