BAGHMARA, Nov 5: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), South Garo Hills, on Saturday organised an awareness-cum-outreach programme at Baghmara main market area, and sensitised the general public on the availability of free legal aid services and other services meant for the benefit of the people.
Chief Judicial Magistrate of DLSA Daniel S Marbaniang, while addressing the gathering, informed that many under-trial prisoners have complained about their family members abandoning them.
He also called upon the public to visit their family members, who are serving as under-trial prisoners, and not abandon them.
Apprising the gathering of the availability of free legal aid services, he said that an important objective of organising such programmes is to empower the citizens through legal awareness.
