Guv all praise for service of Bharat Scouts and Guides
SHILLONG, Nov 7: Governor BD Mishra has lauded the service rendered by the Bharat Scouts and Guides since its inception 72 years ago. Addressing a gathering during a programme at the Headquarters of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides at Pine Mount Ridge, Shillong, on Monday, the Governor extended his greetings on the 73rd Foundation Day of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, and the golden jubilee celebration of the Meghalaya Chapter of the Bharat Scouts and Guides. On the occasion, the Governor was also inducted as the Chief Patron of the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides. Congratulating the 50 Scouts and Guides recipients of the Prestigious Governor’s Award, Mishra urged them to continue with their initiatives and work hard towards building a better tomorrow. Pointing out the importance of inculcating the habit of serving humanity, the Governor also urged the Bharat Scouts and Guides to live up to the ideals of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Movement and work for the betterment of the society and the nation as a whole. Stating that the ideals cultivated at a young age will stay with them forever and referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership during the COVID-19-induced crisis, the Governor stressed on the need for the youths to be aware of their roles and responsibilities. On the occasion, the Governor also conferred the ‘Rajya Puraskars’ upon 50 Scouts and Guides and two rangers for having undergone training and successfully completing it. Other highlights of the day include release of the Foundation Flag by the Governor, performance by the awardees, etc.
James lays foundation stone for Bajengdoba CHC
TURA, Nov 7: Health & Family welfare Minister, James P K Sangma on Monday laid the foundation stone for Bajengdoba Community Health Centre (CHC) on the premises of the Bajengdoba Primary Health Centre (PHC) in North Garo Hills. Speaking during the base laying function, James said, “It’s a momentous day to celebrate the upgrade of the PHC into CHC after a period of 33 years since the establishment of the Bajengdoba PHC. The upcoming CHC would prove beneficial for the local people.” He also admitted to various challenges that need to be addressed in terms of medical, education, road connectivity, etc. It was also informed that the state would soon send out its first batch of medical practitioners for a capacity-building programme in Tamil Nadu.
