Speaker lays base for Mairang block office

NONGSTOIN, Nov 10: The foundation stone for the new office building of Mairang C&RD Block was unveiled by Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh on Thursday in the presence of C&RD Minister Hamletson Dohling, Water Resources Minister Brolding Nongsiej, Deputy Commissioner of Eastern West Khasi Hills District, W Nongsiej, besides other government officials.
In his address as the chief guest, Metbah lauded the C&RD minister in regard with facilitating the sanction of the project which is worth Rs 2.88 crore.
Meanwhile, C&RD Minister Hamletson Dohling, in his speech, dwelt at length on the achievements of the C&RD department, particularly with regard to the implementation of MGNREGS and the upsurge of the self-help group (SHG) movement in the state in the last few years. He also said that all 46 C&RD blocks of the state will be getting new office buildings with Rs 2.50 crore each being sanctioned for six blocks and cumulatively Rs 120 crore for the other 40 blocks.
