SHILLONG, Nov 17: C&RD Minister Hamletson Dohling has accentuated the need for better service delivery to the general public while maintaining that block offices act as bridges between the government and the public.
Dohling was speaking at a foundation stone-laying ceremony for the construction of new Mawkynrew C&RD Block office building on Thursday.
After laying the foundation stone in the presence of Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh and C&RD department Director SC Sadhu, Dohling informed that the state government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore for the upgrade of 40 block offices in Meghalaya.
Dohling also dwelt at length on the achievements of the Community and Rural Development, particularly with regard to the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and the upsurge of the SHG movement.
Stating that block offices act as bridges between the government and the public, he said, “Hence, there is a need to improve the infrastructure and facilities for better service delivery.”
