Court convicts man of minor’s sexual assault

NONGSTOIN, Nov 18: The Court of the Special Judge (POCSO), West Khasi Hills, has convicted one Kelding Thongni of sexual assault of a six-year-old.
Following the crime, which was perpetrated in 2014, a case against Thongni was registered at Nongstoin police station.
It was after this he was arrested and following a thorough investigation, the perpetrator was tried in the court.
Meanwhile, Thongni has been sentenced to 25 years rigorous imprisonment and has been imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000.
In default of payment of fine, the convict will undergo another six months of simple imprisonment.
