SHILLONG, Nov 18: The state government has ordered the creation of Namdong C&RD Block in West Jaintia Hills.
The order, which comes into immediate effect, has been issued at a time when the state government is already inaugurating a spate of new C&RD blocks while demand for more such blocks in the state is intensifying.
A day ago, the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) had called for the creation of another C&RD block at Umdohlun or Wahkaji area in South West Khasi Hills, arguing that doing so will ease the problems of people living in remote places who struggle to reach out to the administration due to the long distance.
According to a statement here on Friday, the newly created Namdong C&RD Block will include villages of Namdong-A, Namdong-B, Mynkhnang, Umjalisiaw, Lumrot, Madanrtiang, Thadmukoh, Khonsaro, Kremmyrsiang, Thadmynri, Mynkrem, Khliehriat, Iongsnieh Takhniang, Saphohwaiong, Sanaro, Pdeiniadaw, Pdeniaw-musiang, Ringkyrtein, Moobakhon, Nongthymme, Mookjat, Moorap, Ksehrynshang, Kremlabit, Nongmulieh, Khanduli, Rudumplu, Umshangiar, Saitsama, Tamu, Shiabnai, Lakaroi Pnar, Mukoiram, Lad-Myngngor, Pdeintaloo, Lumlakhiat, Lapangap, Myngngor, Myn-I and Rtiangsanphew.
“With this creation, the above-listed villages will cease to exist in their respective earlier C&RD blocks,” the statement said.
