Int’l seminar on India’s freedom struggle

SHILLONG, Nov 20: An international seminar was organised by Women’s College, Shillong, on the theme ‘Azad Hind Day and the Indian Freedom Struggle with special reference to Northeast India’ to commemorate Azad Hind Day as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration.
The seminar was held in collaboration with the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi, on November 15 and 16 in hybrid mode.
Former professor at Department of International Affairs, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Prof Purabi Roy, Vice-Chancellor, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Prof. Suranjan Das, who is also the president of All India Association of Universities, New Delhi, Defence Attache, Vietnam, Major Dr Prabir Kumar Chakraborty (VSM), Prof Amena Passah from Department of History, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong; Prof Sujit Ghosh, Chairman, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata, among others were the speakers who engaged with the participants on various aspects related to the objectives, strategies, methods, campaigns, battles and diplomatic lines adopted by the Azad Hind Fauj under the leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose .
The highlight of the seminar was the special audience with freedom fighter Bharati Asha Sahay Choudhury on the second day of the seminar.
