SHILLONG, Nov 21: A children’s park, besides a badminton court, basketball court, and a cricket and football playground was inaugurated and declared open in Jhalupara by South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Sunday.
The inaugural programme was organised by the Monitoring Cum Implementation Committee (MCIC) of South Shillong in collaboration with the Jhalupara Village Council, Shillong Cantonment Development Committee, and Shillong Cantonment Lease Holders Association.
The programme was attended by Headman of Jhalupara, Mohan Limbu, state BJP president, Ernest Mawrie, and others.
The facilities were constructed under the land development work issued by the Shillong Cantonment Board.
Resident of Jhalupara, who were grateful to the MLA for ensuring that the project reaches its fruition, said it was history in the making.
The project has been sanctioned under central Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme and Special Urban Work Programme scheme at a cost of Rs 70 lakh.
