SHILLONG, Nov 27: The state government is likely to review and withdraw the temporary suspension of mobile internet and data services on Monday.
Mobile internet services remain suspended in the seven districts of the state since 10.30 am on Tuesday.
Director-General of Police Lajja Ram Bishnoi told The Shillong Times on Sunday that the suspension is likely to be revoked on Monday since the situation was under control and there was no report of any untoward incident in the last three days.
He also said that movement of vehicles between Meghalaya and neighbouring states has resumed and normal flow of traffic will resume from Monday morning.
Asserting that the police was committed to maintaining law and order in the state, he said, “We are taking all possible measures to ensure a cordial atmosphere is maintained along the national highways.”
The DGP also informed that adequate forces have been deployed in sensitive areas and necessary precautions have been put in place to thwart any untoward incident in the capital city and other districts within the Eastern range.
Asserting that citizens have come out openly to condemn and express anger over the assault of non-indigenous citizens in the city, the DGP said, “We are getting full cooperation from the citizens since they are against these kinds of incidents.”
