More agitation may hit school exam schedule

SHILLONG, Nov 27: The law-and-order disruption in the city last week and the decision of the pressure groups to resume their agitation if the government fails to act against the perpetrators of the Mukroh killings, has put the schools and the students in a spot of bother.
Students in most schools in the city are writing their promotion exam papers amid speculations that the pressure groups might renew their agitation in the days to come.
When contacted, some pressure group leaders denied that they were waiting for the school examinations to be over before aggressively pursuing their demands in the wake of the Mukroh violence.
“We will see how the government responds to our demands. We will meet in the coming days and plan future actions if the government fails to act,” a pressure group leader said on Sunday.
Final examinations for students up to class IX in St Mary’s HS School, St Anthony’s HS School, St. Margaret’s HS School Synod HS School, Mawkhar Christian HS School and St. Dominic HS School will end on November 30 as per the roster prepared by MBoSE.
The examination of Auxilium Convent will end on December 2, at St. Edmund’s School on December 6 and Shillong Public School the next day.
However, in most of the schools, classes are slated to continue for Classes X-XII till the second week of December.
Some schools are planning conduct extra classes for students of classes X and XII who are due to appear for their board examinations in February and March next year.
