SHILLONG, Dec 1: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) on Thursday asked the state government to appoint the chairperson of the newly-formed Meghalaya State Education Commission (MSEC) and make it operational at the earliest to improve the education system in the state.
Talking to reporters after meeting Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, MSSASA president Aristotle Rymbai said they submitted a memorandum on their demands.
Rymbai said once the commission is operational, the managing committees of schools and colleges will no longer need to take their grievances to the state government since the MSEC will be responsible for addressing the problems.
“We will be able to place our grievances with regard to the delay of release of the salaries once MSEC is constituted,” he said.
Rymbai said the deputy CM informed them that a search committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to recommend the names of the chairperson and members of the education commission.
Rymbai also informed the association that the government will release the salaries of the SSA teachers for the months of October and November before Christmas.
