SHILLONG, Dec 8: National People’s Party (NPP) candidate from Pynthorumkhrah Rocky Hek has claimed that people from the constituency are of the opinion that he has all the qualities of BJP South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai due to his generous nature.
Rocky Hek, who will lock horns against his uncle and BJP MLA AL Hek for Pynthorumkhrah seat during the upcoming Assembly elections, on Thursday said he tries helping people out of his own pocket.
Claiming that people from Pynthorumkhrah say he has Shullai’s qualities of reaching out to the people in need of help, Rocky said, “I accept the compliment of the people and I will work harder for their interest and benefit.”
Meanwhile, the NPP candidate also said the constituency lacks on many developmental fronts, including basic amenities such as water and electricity.
Admitting to criticism against him, Rocky said that his decision to join the NPP was to get a platform to raise issues that are afflicting the people of the constituency.
Meanwhile, Rocky also admitted that the political battle against his uncle is not going to be a facile task.
“I will work hard to get the support of the people. I am confident that I will get the support and acceptance of the people since I come from this constituency,” Rocky said.
