SHILLONG, Dec 15: It takes a VVIP to get roads repaired in Shillong. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on Sunday has upset the “routine” of the government machinery which is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the PM’s visit is a pleasant one.
The state government seems to have gone into hyperactive mode with roads in areas like Bivar Road and Polo being repaired to ensure a “bump free” drive for the Prime Minister.
In addition, the walls and amenities along the proposed route of the Prime Minister are also being painted and cleaned while barricades are being placed in different parts of the city.
The PM is scheduled to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of the North Eastern Council and will address a public meeting at Polo which is being organised by the NEC.
