SHILLONG, Dec 16: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) state president Saleng Sangma has maintained that there is anti-incumbency against National People’s Party (NPP), Trinamool Congress (TMC) as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party in Meghalaya.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Sangma said that the NCP can be the best alternative for the people of the state due to the anti-incumbent sentiment against other major parties.
Sangma, who is the lone NCP MLA, however, said that he wants the party high command to be more serious about Assembly elections in Meghalaya.
“We should have geared up (for the polls) by now, especially since elections are just two months away,” he said.
It may be mentioned that the NCP has few candidates who are already campaigning for themselves in select constituencies.
It was also informed that the NCP general secretary will visit the state capital on Sunday to hold discussions for revival of the party ahead of the elections.
