SHILLONG, Dec 23: The State Council of Science, Technology and Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya, on Thursday organised a programme at Shillong College to celebrate the National Mathematics Day.
According to a statement, the National Mathematics Day-cum-Orientation Programme was attended by 80 Maths Ambassadors of Meghalaya, who will aid the Council in providing ‘crash tuitions programme’ to SSLC candidates at 130 tuition centres across the state.
It may be mentioned that out of the 130 centres, 80 have been set up in Khasi-Jaintia region and 50 in Garo Hills region.
The day-long programme comprised two sessions.
While in the first session lectures were delivered by research scholars of the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), the second session saw orientation of the Maths Ambassadors by Associate Professor Spainborlang Kharshandi of Mathematics department of Shillong College.
“The programme will be followed by a series of one-day workshops on Mathematics for lower-primary and upper-primary teachers using Maths kits and origami in all the districts during January 2023,” a statement in this regard said.
