Over one lakh women in state register for TMC’s WE Card

SHILLONG, Dec 27: Within two weeks of its launch, the Meghalaya TMC’s flagship initiative “WE Card” has received from over one lakh female applicants in the state.
The Meghalaya Financial Inclusion for Women Empowerment Scheme (MFI WE), more popularly called “WE Card”, was launched by TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee here on December 13.
A statement from the party said that in order to simplify the process of registration for the people, Meghalaya TMC has set up kiosks in every Assembly constituency to make the scheme accessible to even those residing in the remotest corners of the state.
“Throughout the past two weeks, women from all walks of life showed unparalleled enthusiasm in registering for this one-of-a-kind scheme,” the party said.
The party has promised to roll out the benefits under “WE Card” one its government is installed in Meghalaya. The card assures a guaranteed income support of Rs 1,000 every month to one woman per household in the state.
