BSF apprehends 132 persons over transborder crimes in 2022

SHILLONG, Jan 6: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier apprehended 30 Rohingya, 41 Bangladeshi and 61 Indian nationals in 2022 who were involved in transborder crimes.
A statement from BSF said that they foiled numerous smuggling attempts and seized huge quantities of contraband items, cattle, arms, ammunition, drugs and narcotics at the international border.
The BSF, in the same year, also seized 3,481 cattle worth Rs 5.55 crore, 9,779 bottles of liquor, 11,435 Yaba tablets, 7,536 bottles of Phensedyl.
According to the statement, the BSF Meghalaya has also put in successful efforts to indulge border population and schoolchildren in celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
