TURA, Jan 10: Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) MDC from Rongrong and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Rinaldo K Sangma on Tuesday warned Chief Minister Conrad Sangma that the people of North Garo Hills would pay him in two months for his “political gimmicks”.
In a statement, Rinaldo said, “By inaugurating half-completed stadiums and constructing 100-metre blacktopped roads in some hours just for mere photo ops, how long will you keep deluding the people of Resubelpara and North Garo Hills when we are transiting through these roads every single day? The tardy (construction of) Damra-Resubelpara-Bajengdoba road is yet to see any progress, considering the time period since the initiation of the project in 2019.” He also alleged that several pleas by different organisations and stakeholders to the department for the expedition of the road construction had fallen on deaf ears.
The TMC leader also alleged that the one-sided carpeting of the road in Gajing Bibra stretch, about which “tall claims” were made by the chief minister on his social media handle, was initiated just hours before his arrival to Resubelpara.
Rinaldo, while reiterating that the Resubelpara-Gajing-Mendipathar road is a lifeline for commuters, requested the chief minister to stop the “stunts and gimmicks” and direct the contractors to expedite the construction work.
