SHILLONG, Jan 17: Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) director Aiban Swer on Tuesday released the music video of I Have a Dream, a song that acknowledges the entrepreneurs of Meghalaya who dare to dream.
It may be mentioned that the music video is intended to celebrate the achievements and capture the essence of the entrepreneurial support system being provided to the entrepreneurs of Meghalaya by PRIME Hub, a state government’s initiative to support startups.
The song was conceptualised by Meghalaya’s renowned folk fusion troupe Summersalt, with an intention to encourage and build the confidence of the entrepreneurs, especially the young ones in the field.
Swer, who is also the PRIME Hub representative, before releasing the video said that the music of Summersalt will definitely add inspiration to the start-up movement in Meghalaya.
It may be mentioned that artistes from across Meghalaya were roped in for the project due to which the song has been sung in five different languages, viz. English, Khasi, Garo, Pnar and Hajong.
The other renowned artistes involved are Fame the Band from Tura, engaging with their front-liner Fame Sangma as well as members of Meghalaya household choir, Aroha Choir.
Speaking about the musical project, Summersalt’s Kit Shangpliang said the song is full of purpose as it motivates people and young entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams.
Another band member of Summersalt, Greg Nongrum, said that alongside such initiatives, music plays a prime role in reaching out to the young people and people of all ages.
“Music is a standalone catalyst, excitement creator and excitement sustainer of public and community-based movements, especially in the state of Meghalaya where music is attached to and with all walks of life,” Nongrum said.
