SHILLONG, Jan 24: The Shillong Traffic Police (STP) on Tuesday launched a crackdown on vehicles using modified or retrofit exhaust and seized a total of 17 bikes and vehicles.
Police crackdown on bikes and vehicles came after they received public complaint on rampant use of loud exhaust in vehicles in the city.
Earlier, the STP had issued a statement in which it had noted that there has been a rise in the number of vehicles, two-wheelers and four wheelers, which are retrofitted with loud exhaust pipes causing noise pollution in the city, especially at unearthly hours.
