BSF intercepts B’desh-bound vehicle, seizes clothing items

SHILLONG, Jan 29: Personnel of Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Frontier, on Saturday foiled a smuggling attempt along the Indo-Bangladesh border, and seized clothing items worth Rs 22 lakh.
According to a statement, the seizure was made after the consignment-laden vehicle en route Bangladesh was intercepted by the BSF troops in Pyrdwah village area in East Khasi Hills district.
“When BSF signalled the vehicle to stop, the driver fled towards the forest area, leaving the vehicle in the middle of the road. BSF handed over seized items and vehicle to Customs Pynursla for further action,” the statement said.
It may be mentioned that the BSF in 2022 had seized clothing items worth more than Rs 1.2 crore along the India and Bangladesh border.
