34 USTM students to compete at GES-2023 at IIT-K with 13 Innovative projects

Guwahati, Feb  2 : A 34-member student team from theUniversity of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has  left for IIT Kharagpur today to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), the annual international corporate convergence organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-cell), IIT Kharagpur.

The Summit will be held  during 3-5 February. The innovator students of USTM are accompanied by three mentors, Dr Deboja Sharma, Dr Mautushi Das and Dr Alamdar Husain, to participate in the mega event.

The student participants are from various departments, namely, Applied Biology, Botany and Pharmaceutical Science.

Speaking in this context, USTM Chancellor M Hoque said, “We always encourage and motivate our students to cultivate innovation and creativity. This international event of IIT Kharagpur will no doubt benefit the students in terms of exposure and knowledge in the global platform.

The Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2023 – "Realm of Renaissance" is an attempt to provide a much-needed resurgence for the Indian startup ecosystem to overcome the current fundraising winter and the worrying depreciation of unicorn startups, said Dr Amit Choudhury, Dean, School of Business Sciences, USTM.

The total group comprises student member Abhilash Borah whose group is going to present a project titled “Verdant, an Antimicrobial Diffuser Blend”, Jinkee Kalita and group are going to present “Sustainable Skincare”, followed by Mencho Sena with “Flavours of NE”, Hathorkhi Rwmwi Basumatary and team will present on “Animate Diffuser”, Srijana and team will present on “Herbal Chocolate”, Peter G Momin and Team will present on “Bioflim Vermiwash” followed by Khushboo Ahmed and team who will present on “Plastic Recycler”, Chonghoivah Singson and team with “Phool Mantra”, Lupa Mudra Baruah and Team are going with “Titagura, a traditional knowledge-based herbal formulation as an immunity booster and its potentiality for our rural entrepreneurship,” Sapan Yaiphabi Chanu and team with “Borassus Flabellifer Wine”, Sarmen Tokbi, “Alcohol-free Herbal sanitization products”, S Dhole Key and Team will present “Development and Commercialization of fruit bar from fruits available in NE India” and Jilimoni Nath and Team with “Biodegradable Sanitary Napkin”.

The events  highlighted are:  Intern carnival, where the students get a fantastic opportunity to secure internships with established startups and major conglomerates ; Professors Meet, where the professors from all the universities and IIT Kharagpur interact among themselves and explore entrepreneurship in their respective core fields ;  Co-Founders Meet.
