Shillong, Feb 2: The BJP today announced its poll candidates for all the 60 Assembly constituencies in Meghalaya where election is being held on February 27.
The names of poll candidates were finalized in a central party meeting in Delhi held with party’s national president JP Nadda in the chair.
BJP has given poll tickets to six women candidates in Meghalaya this time including Ferlin Sangma who left NPP.
Party’s State president Ernest Mawrie will contest from West Shillong seat. State BJP vice president Bernard Marak will contest against incumbent Chief Minister and NPP leader Conrad Sangma from South Tura LAC.
Marak was arrested in a case few months back on various criminal charges but was released on bail by the court later.
Many turncoats have also got BJP ticket including five-time MLA and former NPP leader Martin Danggo who will contest from Ranikor seat. Danggo joined the party few days back.
Another prominent leader Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang who shifted allegiance to the BJP from the TMC, has been given nomination to contest from Mawsynram constituency.
