SHILLONG, Feb 1: Presenting a beautiful example of democracy, a daily wage worker on Wednesday came forward to file nomination for February 27 polls.
Twenty-seven-year-old Richard Nongbsap hails from Umlyngka Sepngi and will contest from Mylliem constituency.
He makes a living by doing different kind of jobs such as collecting grass to feed the cows, wasted charcoal for reuse after mixing it with mud, and even collects scrap.
Expressing resentment against corruption, Nongbsap said he wants to introduce a law to find the corrupted MLAs and their source of income.
Interestingly, Nongbsap, contesting as an Independent, has picked his symbol for polls to be a CCTV.
The value of his moveable assets is Rs 1.13 lakh, while his qualification is Higher Secondary.
“I want to bring in a law and find out who are the corrupt MLAs, how much they are spending from their salary and how much is going into their pockets,” he said.
