GUWAHATI, Feb 2: A 34-member team of students from the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) have left for IIT Kharagpur to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), the annual international corporate convergence organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-cell) of IIT Kharagpur.
The three-day summit gets underway from Friday.
The students are from departments such as Applied Biology, Botany and Pharmaceutical Science.
Accompanied by three mentors, they will showcase 13 innovative projects in the summit.
Speaking in this context, USTM Chancellor M. Hoque said, “We always encourage and motivate our students to cultivate innovation and creativity. This international event of IIT Kharagpur will no doubt benefit the students in terms of exposure and knowledge in the global platform.”
“The Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2023 is an attempt to provide a much-needed resurgence for the Indian start-up ecosystem to overcome the current fundraising winter and the worrying depreciation of unicorn startups,” said Dr Amit Choudhury, Dean, School of Business Sciences, USTM.
The events at the summit comprise among others an intern carnival, where the students get a fantastic opportunity to secure internships with established start-ups and major conglomerates.
A professors’ meet will also be held where the professors from all the universities and IIT Kharagpur will interact among themselves and explore entrepreneurship in their respective core fields. Besides, a co-founders’ meet is a perfect platform for start-up founders in the need of a co-founder.
