SHILLONG, Feb 3: TMC candidate from Phulbari constituency, SG Esmatur Mominin, has accused Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma of peddling false propaganda against the TMC.
Reacting to the chief minister’s statement that there has been no development in Phulbari despite the government sanctioning schemes to the elected representative, Mominin said, “A few days back, in a rally, our CM said that Phulbari hasn’t seen development under my tenure as an MLA…He doesn’t have any knowledge of the development that I have brought in the constituency during my tenure.”
Terming it a “deliberate ignorance” on the chief minister’s part with regard to development in Phulbari, the TMC leader said, “I have shown what I could do in the last five years. The development that this constituency has seen has never happened before I got elected.”
Accusing the chief minister of not being accountable, Mominin said, “Being the CM, instead of blaming the MLA, he should have taken responsibility and said what he has done for the constituency.”
Talking about the developmental initiatives undertaken to improve livelihood in his constituency, he said, “The people of Phulbari are the true witness to the development of Phulbari. The support and blessings of the people of Phulbari will play a significant role in dethroning this corrupt NPP-led MDA government.”
It may be recalled that Mominin, despite being the sitting NPP MLA from Phulbari, was denied a ticket and was instead allotted to former Speaker AT Mondol.
The reason for the denial of ticket, according to the chief minister, was Mominin’s failure in properly implementing various schemes in the constituency.
It was after this Mominin had resigned from the NPP and joined the TMC.
