SHILLONG, Feb 4: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is unlikely to introduce Remote Electronic Voting Machines (RVMs) in the upcoming Assembly polls.
The poll body had said it is looking into the prospect of using remote voting machines for domestic migrants who cannot travel to their home constituencies to cast their votes.
“The ECI had held discussions with political parties last month over the introduction of RVMs. But there was no consensus amongst political parties,” Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor said on Saturday.
