Shillong, Feb 6: The UDP candidate from Nongkrem Assembly constituency of Meghalaya , Lambor Malngiang has claimed to have raised several important issues though his party was a constituent of the NPP-led MDA coalition government in the State.
While speaking to reporters after filing of his nomination here today, he said he had raised a number of important issues which were against the will of the people whether it is issue of inter-State boundary dispute with Assam or the proposal to set up casinos in the State.
“The people are happy since whatever issues which I had raised in the Assembly have been taken note of by the government,” Malngiang had resigned as an independent MLA before joining the UDP.
Malngiang said that it was also a decision which he had taken with the people of his constituency before joining the UDP.
“We had several rounds of discussion and finally we decided to contest from the UDP,” the former MLA said.
When asked if the decision of the veteran politician, Bindo Mathew Lanong to contest from Nongkren will affect his prospect, he said that he would not like to talk much about his opponents.
Malngiang said that the people were the best judge of the work he has done in the constituency.
“The people will give their verdict on February 27 , the polling date, if they are happy or not with the work I have done for the constituency in the past five years,” the UDP candidate from Nongkrem said.
