BSF chases away miscreants, seizes FICN along int’l border in EJH

SHILLONG, Feb 8: Thwarting yet another attempt by miscreants along the Indo-Bangla border, the BSF Meghalaya confiscated Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of face value worth Rs 55,000 from the border areas in East Jaintia Hills.
During nighttime hours on Tuesday, troops of 172nd Battalion BSF detected suspicious movement of miscreants approaching from Bangladesh to India.
On being challenging, miscreants fled away to Bangladesh taking advantage of the darkness, hilly terrain and thick vegetation. The BSF then conducted a search of the area and recovered a bag containing 105 FICN in denomination of Rs 500.
An FIR has been lodged with Umkiang PS and the FICN was also handed over to the police. It is suspected that the FICNs, which were of “very low grade”, were locally printed in Bangladesh.
