Police recover 100 soap boxes of heroin in EJH

SHILLONG, Feb 8: After a night-long operation, the Anti Narcotic Task Force of East Jaintia Hills detected a big consignment of drugs in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The ANTF team, led by Banraplang Jyrwa, Additional Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills, alongside personnel from Ladrymbai Outpost, recovered 100 soap boxes from the possession of one Albert Lalro Piang (32) of Mizoram at the petrol pump opposite Friends Hotel and Restaurant in Lad Rymbai.
The heroin weighed 1 kg and 40 grams in total. Besides this, the police also recovered a mobile phone and around Rs 2,500 in cash.
A case in this connection is being registered under the NDPS Act and investigation is under way to trace forward and backward linkages.
