Home voting for elderly, infirm begins in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 15: There is proverb that if the mountain doesn’t come to prophet, let the prophet go to the mountain. This is what is being enacted in Meghalaya this election.
This is a facility for the old and the infirm to cast their votes from comfort of their homes.
On Wednesday, poll official went to Sohra commonly known as Cherrapunjee, to enable this 87 year old matriarch to exercise her franchise.

The CEO,Meghalaya has deployed  district teams  to arrange for home voting for senior citizens above 80 and people with disabilities through postal ballots this election.
CEO FR Kharkongor informed that 9997 Form D have been received from 80 + senior citizens and 6337 from PWDs . District teams across the state are arranging for home voting for the above categories.
