MAWKYRWAT, Feb 15: United Democratic Party (UDP) youth leader and Mawphlang MLA, Eugeneson Lyngdoh feels that the participation and involvement of youths in state politics will benefit them as it will enable the government to address the problems of youths, especially in the field of sports.
Lyngdoh was addressing a youth conference organised by the UDP Youth Wing of Mawkyrwat on Wednesday.
During the conference, which was attended by hundreds of youth leaders and supporters of UDP Mawkyrwat, Lyngdoh said Meghalaya is one of the states which is rich in talents, especially in football.
He, however, lamented that the absence of infrastructure and proper platform has led to the decline in sporting talents.
Maintaining that it is through politics that changes can be brought and opportunities can be provided to the youths, Lyngdoh, who is also a former footballer, said, “If the people of the state voted for this party to lead the government after 2023 elections, I believe that with our involvement as youth leaders we will be able to bring in changes by bringing grassroots infrastructures, which we all have wanted over these years.”
Meanwhile, UDP candidate from Mawkyrwat Renikton L Tongkhar said that if re-elected in 2023, he will try to find ways to solve the issue of youth unemployment in the constituency.
