SHILLONG, Feb 18: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday assured that Meghalaya will be able to experience development at a pace similar to its neigbouring state of Assam if the BJP is voted to power.
According to a statement, Himanta, who addressed four public meetings in Garo Hills at Mahendraganj, Rongjeng, Mendipathar and Kharkutta on Saturday, asked the people to vote for the BJP, and drew their attention to to the speedy execution of central schemes in Assam.
He said the benefits of important schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna had benefitted very few families in Meghalaya as against Assam.
Referring to Arun Uday scheme, which is being implemented in Assam and benefitting almost 35 lakh women, Himanta said the same could be extended to Meghalaya if BJP is elected to power.
Stating that the youths of Meghalaya are reeling under unemployment, Himanta said only the BJP can bring sustainable development that will create employment here.
